东北财经大学成功举办“IAER Econometrics Workshop 2024”

6月21日至23日,由东北财经大学筹划,华盛顿大学范延琴教授、东北财经大学王维国教授与澳门大学余俊教授联合发起的“IAER Econometrics Workshop 2024”成功举办。校内外师生近百人次参加此次会议。


东北财经大学党委副书记齐鹰飞致开幕辞。他代表学校对会议组委会的精心组织表示感谢,对与会专家、校内外师生表示热烈欢迎,期望与会师生能够借此机会深入交流,共同推动计量经济学在中国的新发展和新应用。他简单介绍了本次会议的主办方之一——东北财经大学高等经济研究院,期望大家以各种方式和途径继续支持高等经济研究院的发展,支持东北财经大学的学科建设。


澳门大学金融学及经济学UMDF讲席教授余俊代表组委会致辞。他肯定了本次会议在计量经济学领域的重要影响,对东北财经大学持续举办该会议表示感谢,同时感谢与会嘉宾和学者对本次研讨会的支持。开幕式由高等经济研究院副院长胡蓉主持。


本届会议共分为10个单元,涉及面板数据模型,时间序列和金融计量,网络计量经济学模型,半参数和非参数模型及方法,高维数据建模方法及理论,大数据、机器学习方法及理论,处理效应分析及理论等领域。29位国际计量经济学界著名学者和年轻学者报告了计量经济学前沿研究成果。堪萨斯大学蔡宗武教授、复旦大学胡建强教授、芝加哥大学Tetsuya Kaji助理教授、布朗大学Toru Kitagawa教授、奥胡斯大学Morten Ørregaard Nielsen教授、南方科技大学邵启满教授、澳门大学余俊教授、复旦大学张霜剑青年研究员等8位专家应邀参加了本届研讨会并报告论文。本届研讨会面向国内外计量经济学者征稿,共有21篇论文入选。来自北京大学、宾夕法尼亚州立大学、复旦大学、华盛顿大学、伦敦大学学院、山东大学、上海财经大学、厦门大学、香港中文大学、中央财经大学的师生报告了最新研究成果。与会专家、师生就报告论文进行了深入交流。


东北财经大学统计学部主任王维国致闭幕辞。他向与会嘉宾表示诚挚感谢,回顾了IAER Econometrics Workshop的发展,肯定其作为学校在学术研究领域开展国际化合作的重要组成部分,对提升学校学术研究国际化及数量经济学学科国际影响力的积极作用。


该会议已经连续举办七届。IAER Econometrics Workshop 2024作为第八届,由东北财经大学高等经济研究院、经济学院、科研处联合举办,是各方深入交流、扩大合作后举办的一次高水平学术会议,为校内外师生提供了拓宽学术视野、提高创新能力的难得机遇,对学校加强海内外学术交流合作、促进应用经济学科的发展具有推动作用,对学校“双一流”建设起到积极作用。




DUFE Held IAER Econometrics Workshop 2024

IAER Econometrics Workshop 2024, sponsored by Dongbei University of Finance and Economics (DUFE) and co-organized by Professor Yanqin FAN from University of Washington, Professor Weiguo WANG from DUFE, and Professor Jun YU from University of Macau, was held on June 21-23, 2024. More than 100 scholars and graduate students attended the Workshop.


Yingfei Qi, the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of DUFE, delivered the welcome speech. On behalf of DUFE, He first expressed his gratitude to the organizing committee for their careful organization. He also extended a warm welcome to the experts, teachers, and students from both inside and outside the university, hoping that the participants could seize the opportunity to conduct in-depth exchanges and jointly promote the new development and application of econometrics in China. He briefly introduced one of the organizers of this conference, the Institute for Advanced Economic Research (IAER) of DUFE, and expressed his hope that everyone would continue to support the development of IAER and the discipline construction of DUFE in various ways and through various channels.


Prof. Yu Jun, the UMDF Chair Professor of Finance and Economics from the University of Macau, spoke at the opening ceremony on behalf of the organizing committee. Professor Yu affirmed the significant impact of this conference in the field of econometrics, expressed his gratitude to DUFE for continuously organizing academic conferences, and thanked the guests and scholars who attended the seminar for their support. The opening ceremony was hosted by Rong Hu, the Vice Director of IAER@DUFE.


There are 10 sessions in the Workshop, covering topics of Panel data models, Time series analysis and financial econometrics, Network econometric models, Semi- and non-parametric models and methods, Methods and theories for modelling high-dimensional data, Methods and theories for big data and machine learning, Treatment effect analysis and theories. 29 distinguished and young econometricians presented their frontier research, and received constructive comments from the audiences. The Workshop invited a total of 8 top-tier econometricians to attend and present: professor Zongwu CAI from Kansas University, professor Jianqiang Hu from Fudan University, professor Tetsuya Kaji from University of Chicago, professor Toru Kitagawa from Brown University, professor Morten Ørregaard Nielsen from Aarhus University, professor Qi-Man Shao from Southern University of Science and Technology and a Young Investigator Shuangjian Zhang from Fudan University. The Workshop called for papers from econometricians worldwide, and accepted 21 papers for the program. Faculty members and students fromCentral University of Finance and Economics, Fudan University, Peking University, Pennsylvania State University, Shandong University, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, University College London, University of Washington, and Xiamen University presented their latest research. Invited speakers, faculty members, and students participated in in-depth discussions on the presented papers.


Weiguo WANG, director of College of Statistics delivered the closing speech. He extended his profound gratitude to all the speakers and traced the illustrious history of the IAER Econometrics Workshop and affirmed its important role as a significant component of the university’s international cooperation in academic research, and its positive impact on enhancing the internationalization of the university's academic research and the international influence of quantitative economics. The closing ceremony was hosted by Rong Hu, the Vice Director of IAER@DUFE.


The IAER Econometrics Workshop 2024 is an annual event, marking its eighth installment this year. The organizers of the IAER Econometrics Workshop 2024, which are IAER, School of Economics, and Office of Academic Research of DUFE, spared no effort in hosting a preeminent economics conference that profoundly fosters communication and collaboration among researchers. As a crucial component of DUFE’s international academic research cooperation, the IAER Econometrics Workshop 2024 served as an invaluable platform for economists to broaden their research horizons.
